Standing Committee of UP

According to the Bangladesh Local Government (Union Parishad) Act, 2009, the formation of Standing Committees in every Union Parishad is mandatory. These committees are responsible for ensuring the implementation of development activities and the quality of services in specific sectors.

Below is a list of Standing Committees of the Union Parishad:

(As per the law, a minimum of 13 standing committees are required)

Finance and Accounts Standing Committee

Mass Education, Primary Education, and Public Library Standing Committee

Health, Family Planning, and Nutrition Standing Committee

Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock, and Cooperatives Standing Committee

Child and Women Development, and Prevention of Women Abuse Standing Committee

Water Supply and Sanitation Standing Committee

Culture and Sports Standing Committee

Development and Planning Standing Committee

Market, Haats, and Ferries Management Standing Committee

Environmental Conservation Standing Committee

Road, Culvert, and Bridge Construction Standing Committee

Disaster Management Standing Committee

Justice, Mediation, and Discipline Standing Committee

Key provisions regarding these committees:
✅ Each committee must have at least three members, including one female member.
✅ The Chairman cannot be a member of any standing committee, but serves as the President of the Finance and Accounts Committee.
✅ The President of each committee is elected from among its members.
